INSURANCE TRUST
A few years ago, many WAB members realized that in order to retain their workforce, it was necessary to provide their employees with health benefits. Fed up with skyrocketing prices and the tremendous amount of time it took to find new insurance carriers year after year, WAB members formed the Wyoming Associated Builders Insurance Trust, or "WABIT", for short.
WABIT is a non-profit, member owned, comprehensive group health program for members and their employees. This means that the businesses participating in the plan, own it. Since we are the owners of the plan, we keep our prices as low as possible while maintaining quality service.
The Wyoming Associated Builders benefit program is designed as a Defined Contribution Health Care program in which:
- The employer decides which of the 7 benefit plans to offer employees;
- The employer decides the amount of premium they are willing to pay for insurance protection for employees;
- The employee decides which benefit program best meets their needs.
The program offers:
- Pre-existing condition transfer;
- Deductible and co-insurance credit from prior employer group coverage;
- Dental and Life Insurance options;
- Employer discretion on "waiting period;"
- No separation liability for the employer
- An employer group is either accepted or rejected as a whole
- Three dental plans available
- Group Life Insurance Mandatory - $15,000 per employee
- Minimum group size of 3 full-time eligible employees
- Renewals apply equally to all employees participating in each plan
