WYOMING ASSOCIATED BUILDERS EDUCATION AND TRAINING

With the extreme worker shortage Wyoming is experiencing, perhaps nothing is more important to our industry than recruiting, training, and maintaining our workforce. WAB is committed to helping our members achieve this goal.

WAB works with a variety of state agencies, colleges, commissions and other outlets that offer programs that are beneficial to our members. We keep our members informed of educational opportunities that are available throughout the state. Check out our education and training calendar here.

In addition, WAB sponsors seminars on topics that are important to our members, such as taxes, worker's compensation and more.

When our electrical contractor members did not find electrical apprenticeship programs that met their needs, they came together to establish our own electrical apprenticeship program. Read more about WAB electrical apprenticeships here.

WAB is developing more trade apprenticeship programs; please contact us if you are interested in developing an apprenticeship program in your field of expertise.

WYOMING ASSOCIATED BUILDERS ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

Many of our electrical contractors were frustrated in many of the electrical apprenticeship programs that were available to them in Wyoming. They felt the programs were too expensive, or the curriculum was not effective, or feared that in some cases, instructors were cherry picking their apprentices.

These contractors came to the table with WAB and established the WAB apprenticeship program.

In the WAB electrical apprenticeship program each contractor is responsible for both the classroom and on-the-job training for their apprentices. That means contractors must have licensed journeymen and/or master electricians available to conduct the training.

Contractors are also responsible for ensuring that their apprentices are registered with the state and are keeping current with their studies.

WAB helps facilitate training by ordering books, materials, providing tests, evaluations, grading, tracking, maintaining all apprentice records information and keeping it secure in our office. WAB's management of records, information, and materials ensures the integrity of the program. The goal of training is to produce the most competent, highly skilled electrical craftsmen. WAB currently uses the Contren Learning Series Training Guides which were developed by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER).
